How to Run a Report

You can open any report from the Reports page and set it to the dates, customers and orders you want. Each report answers one question about your store, such as average order value by day.

The Reports page, where you find a report by topic or by searching its name.

Steps

  1. Open Reports in the navigation, under Library.
  2. Find a report. Type in Search reports by name or description, or narrow the list with Sliced by, Theme, Visualization and Time.
  3. Click the report’s card to open it.
  4. Click the date range button, such as Last 30 days, and choose the dates you want.
  5. To compare with an earlier period, click Compare and choose one.
  6. To look at some of your customers only, choose a segment under Segment.
  7. To look at one channel only, such as your online store or point of sale, choose it under Sales Channel.
  8. To keep only orders that match rules you set, click Filters.

Not every report has every control. A report shows only the ones that apply to it.

The Average Order Value report, with summary cards, a chart and a table, and the date range, comparison, segment and sales channel pickers above them.

What Happens Next

The report reloads each time you change a control. Most reports then show three parts:

  • Summary cards with the headline figures for the whole date range. With a comparison on, each card also shows the change.
  • A chart of the figures over time. Where a report offers more than one chart type, switch between them with the buttons at the top right of the chart.
  • A table with one row per period, or per product, campaign or other item. Click a column header to sort by it.

The box at the top says what the report measures. Close it with ✕. To bring it back, open Report settings, the sliders button at the top right of the page, and turn on Show help text under This Report.

Show help text on reports, under All Reports in the same menu, turns the box off for every report. While it’s off, Show help text isn’t offered.

Report settings can also hide the chart or the summary cards. Under Density, it sets how tightly the table’s rows are spaced.
