Copilot
Copilot is an AI analyst you chat with about your store. Ask a question in plain English, such as “What were my top 5 products last month?”, and it answers with numbers, charts and tables from your store’s data.
Open Copilot from the top of the navigation.

How It Works
Asking a Question
Type your question in the box at the bottom and press Enter. Press Shift+Enter for a new line. While Copilot works, it shows each step it takes, such as “Looking up data”, and then writes its answer.
Ask a follow-up in the same conversation and Copilot keeps the context, so “And the month before?” works. Choose New chat to start a fresh conversation.
Copilot answers one question at a time in a conversation. Anything you type while it’s answering stays in the box, ready to send when the answer is done.
Where the Numbers Come From
Copilot looks up its numbers with the same calculations the reports use, so its figures match what you see on the report pages. It can look up your sales, orders, customers, segments, products, profit, refunds and returns, inventory and sales forecasts.
Some answers need a connection first:
- Traffic and conversion questions need das Pixel, or Google Analytics with a property chosen.
- Email and SMS questions need Klaviyo.
- Ad spend and ROAS questions need an ad platform, such as Google Ads or Meta.
Copilot also reads your Business Profile: your Primary Goal, the ad platforms you run and what you’d love help with. It uses them to decide what to point out and what to suggest.
How It Handles Vague Questions
When a question doesn’t say which time period or level of detail, Copilot is set up to pick a default and say which one it used. For a sales trend, that’s the last 30 days, day by day. For cohorts and retention, it’s the last 12 months, month by month.
Ask again with a different range if you wanted something else.
When it isn’t clear which measure you mean, such as “How’s this month going?”, it’s set up to ask before it looks anything up.
Comparing With Similar Stores
Ask “Is my AOV good?” and Copilot compares your store with similar stores over the last 90 days. That needs a store category on your Business Profile. Questions about ad measures, such as “How does my ROAS compare?”, also need a connected ad platform.
Ask “How fast do my customers come back compared with similar stores?” and Copilot compares the median days between a customer’s first and second order. This one doesn’t use the last 90 days. It counts customers whose first order was 1–3 years ago and who ordered again within 365 days, and your store needs at least 30 of them.
Copilot looks for at least 25 comparable stores. It starts with stores like yours in category, size and country, and widens step by step to all stores. When even all stores have fewer than 25 with the data, Copilot says there’s no benchmark to show.
This comparison is in beta.
What Copilot Doesn’t Do
- It only reads your data. It can’t create segments or dashboards, change settings or send anything.
- It has no breakdowns by ZIP or postal code. It can break sales down by country, state or province, and city.
- It has no age, gender, income or interest data. For those, sync a segment to an ad platform and look there.
Copilot is also set up to:
- forecast only when you ask it to
- answer only questions about your store and its customers
- say when something isn’t in your data, such as profit before your product costs are set, and offer the closest measure it has
Answers You Can Keep
Under each answer you can:
- Rate it with Thumbs up or Thumbs down. Select it again to clear your rating.
- Copy as Markdown, to paste it into a document or a message.
- Download as Markdown, to save it as a file.
Conversations Are Shared
Every conversation belongs to your store, not to one person. Everyone on your team sees the same list of conversations, so a teammate can pick up where you left off.
The list shows your 50 most recent conversations, newest first, each titled with the start of its first question. A conversation opened from an insight button is titled “Copilot AI Insights for” and the report’s name. It isn’t shown on narrow screens such as phones.
To delete a conversation, choose the delete icon beside it in the list. Anyone on your team can delete any conversation. Deleting it removes its messages too.
Monthly Messages
Your subscription includes a number of Copilot messages each month. Every answer Copilot writes counts as one, including answers from insight buttons on reports. The count starts again on the 1st of each month in UTC, not your store’s time zone.
When the month’s messages run out, Copilot won’t answer new questions or write insights until the count starts again.
To see how many you’ve used, open Subscription and find Copilot AI Usage.
When you use your last message for the month, the message box turns off and a notice links to Copilot AI Usage. Copilot works again when the count starts over.
What It Means for You
Use Copilot for questions that cut across reports, or when you don’t know which report holds the answer. Start broad, then narrow down with follow-ups: “Which products drove that?”, then “Show me just returning customers.”
Copilot is an AI, so treat its explanations as a starting point. Before you act on an important number, open the report behind it and check.
If an answer stops with “Copilot couldn’t finish that response”, ask the question again.
