Audit Log
The Audit Log is a list of changes made to your store’s settings in By the Numbers. Each entry says what changed, who changed it, when, and where the change came from.
Open Audit Log, under Settings in the navigation. The newest change is at the top.
How It Works
What It Shows
Each row has 5 columns:
- When: the date and time of the change.
- Who: the teammate’s name, or their email if they have no name on file.
- Area: the part of By the Numbers the change belongs to.
- What: a one-line description, such as “Switched Meta conversions off”. Where a setting changed value, the old and new values are shown beneath it.
- Source: where the change came from.
Where a Change Came From
- App: someone made the change in By the Numbers.
- AI Assistant (MCP): an AI assistant that a teammate connected made the change. What an AI Assistant Can and Can’t Change lists what it can do.
- Support: the By the Numbers team made the change. The Who column reads By the Numbers Support, never a staff member’s name or email.
- Automatic: the app made the change by itself, with nobody signed in.
When a change has no signed-in teammate behind it, Who shows a dash and Shopify session beneath it.
What Is Recorded
Changes are grouped into 9 areas:
- das Pixel: switching each ad platform’s conversions on or off, connecting or disconnecting das Pixel, and the conversion destination. A hold on sending is recorded too, and only the By the Numbers team can set or lift it.
- Integrations: connecting, reconnecting and disconnecting a platform, choosing its accounts, and Klaviyo’s phone number setting.
- Annotations: adding, editing and deleting an annotation.
- Goals: creating, editing and deleting a goal.
- Team: adding or removing a teammate, and changing their permissions.
- Scheduled Exports: creating, editing, pausing, resuming and deleting a recurring export, including why one was paused.
- Segments: creating, editing and deleting a custom segment. The standard segments are left out.
- Dashboards: creating, editing and deleting a shared dashboard, and adding, editing, removing or moving its cards. Moving several cards in one drag is one entry.
- Store Settings: your store category, the Business Profile, cost estimates, other expenses and loyalty settings.
What Is Not Recorded
- Personal dashboards and their cards. Sharing a personal dashboard, or making a shared one personal, is recorded.
- Personal Preferences, such as theme and date format.
- Passwords, tokens and recipient lists. An export’s entry shows its schedule and destination type, not who receives it.
- Background upkeep, such as sync times and import progress.
Filtering the List
Three menus narrow the list. The list shows 50 entries per page, and you can change that to 25 or 100.
- Area: one of the 9 areas above, or All Areas.
- Teammate: someone who has made a recorded change, or All Teammates. Support and automatic changes have no teammate, so they don’t appear in this menu.
- When: Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, Last 90 Days or All Time. The days count from the start of that day in your store’s time zone.
The filters are saved in the page’s address. Copy it to share a filtered view with a teammate.
What It Means for You
Anyone on your team can open the Audit Log, including a member with no permissions. It lists only your own store’s changes. You can’t edit or delete its entries.
Use it to answer a question like “who turned off Meta conversions?” Filter Area to das Pixel, then read the Who and When columns. The das Pixel page shows the same history for das Pixel alone: choose Settings, then the History tab.
If a change you didn’t expect shows Support, it was made by the By the Numbers team. How to Contact Support and Switch Stores explains how to reach them.
