Visitor Geography
Visitor Geography shows where your visitors are, by country, region or city, with the sessions, conversions and revenue for each place.

How It’s Calculated
Use the tabs above the globe to choose Countries, Regions or Cities. On Regions and Cities, the Country menu narrows the list to one country. Each row is one place, with the most sessions first.
A session is placed by its first event inside the date range. The columns are:
- Country, Region or City: the place. Regions are states, provinces and similar areas.
- Sessions: visits from that place.
- Visitors: the number of different browsers.
- Conversions: the number of those sessions that ended in a purchase.
- Revenue: the value of those purchases. It is the total of the Shopify order each purchase links to: items minus discounts, plus shipping, plus tax that isn’t already in the prices, minus refunds. Where das Pixel couldn’t match an order, it uses the value it saw at checkout.
- Order Linked: the share of conversions that matched a Shopify order.
On Regions and Cities, a Country column shows which country each place is in, because names repeat across countries. Those tabs list the 500 places with the most sessions.
The place comes from the visitor’s IP address, which das Pixel looks up when it records the visit. The Cities tab needs coordinates as well as a city name. A session with no place is left out of that tab’s rows, so the 3 tabs can show different totals.
Consent & Tracking Coverage Health shows the share of sessions with a country recorded.
On Countries, the globe shades each country by its sessions. On Regions and Cities, it draws a point for each place. Select a country row to open Sessions Explorer with that country and date range.
Summary Cards
The cards above the table are Countries, Sessions, Revenue and Order Match Rate. On the other tabs, the first card is named Regions or Cities. They cover the rows of the tab you’re on.
With Compare on, the first 3 show their change.
What Counts
- Visitors who declined analytics cookies, or who opted out of the sale or sharing of their data while Require Sale-of-Data Consent is on, aren’t recorded. Known bots are left out.
- Only events inside the date range count, in your store’s time zone.
- Turn on Live to refresh the report every 30 seconds. It also draws the visitors active in the last 30 minutes on the globe, with a different mark for a purchase.
A warning shows above the report when das Pixel saw less than 70% of your online-store orders in the last 30 days. This report has no Segment, Sales Channel or Filters control.
What Good Looks Like
There’s no target. Compare where sessions come from with where revenue comes from. A country with many sessions and little revenue is a market where visitors don’t buy.
A place with few sessions can show a very high or low figure from a handful of visits.
What to Do About It
- A country with many sessions and few conversions: check shipping, prices and currency for that country.
- A country with high revenue and few sessions: it converts well, so consider more marketing there.
- Several regions of one country with strong sales: think about regional offers or delivery promises.
Geo of Sessions vs Revenue puts the 2 side by side with an index.
Get AI Insight at the top of the report asks Copilot for a short read of the Countries tab. It doesn’t appear on the other tabs.
