Dashboards

A dashboard is a page of report cards you choose, laid out on a grid, so the numbers you check most are all in one place. Every store starts with the Overview Dashboard. You can add your own beside it.

How It Works

Shared and Personal Dashboards

Each dashboard is either shared or personal:

  • Shared with Shop: everyone on your team sees it. This is the default for a new dashboard if you have the Edit dashboards permission.
  • Personal: only you see it. It shows a Personal label next to its name.

Only the person who created a dashboard can change this. They choose Make Personal or Share with Shop from the dashboard’s menu.

Creating a shared dashboard, or sharing a personal one, needs the Edit dashboards permission. Without it you can still make personal dashboards.

Your dashboards are listed under Dashboards in the navigation. The Dashboards page shows them all, split into Shared and Personal. To switch dashboards, choose the name at the top of the page.

Who Can Change a Dashboard

Changing a shared dashboard needs the Edit dashboards permission. With it you can:

  • add, remove, move and resize cards
  • change the dashboard’s name, icon and Free Positioning
  • save the dashboard’s default filters
  • save views for the whole team
  • delete the dashboard

On a personal dashboard you created, you can do all of that except share views with the team, without the permission.

Without the permission, you can’t change a shared dashboard’s cards, layout, name or icon. Its card menus show only what you can do, such as View report. You can still change its filters for yourself, and choose Duplicate to make your own copy.

Cards and Layout

Each card shows one report as a chart or a table. The grid is 3 columns wide. A card can be 1–3 columns wide and 1–3 rows tall.

  • To move a card, drag it by its title.
  • To resize a card, drag its bottom-right corner, or choose a width and height from the card’s menu.
  • To switch between chart and table, use the card’s menu.

Changes to the layout save as you make them. Cards pack toward the top of the grid unless Free Positioning is on in Edit Dashboard. With it on, each card stays exactly where you put it.

You can pin the same report more than once, for example with different filters on each card.

Filters

The bar above the cards sets the date range, the comparison and the customer segment for every card. It only shows the filters that at least one card can use. A card whose report can’t use one of them shows a crossed-out filter icon.

Changing the filters changes what you see, not what your teammates see. To go back to the dashboard’s own settings, choose Reset. To make your filters the ones everyone sees when they open the dashboard, choose Save as Default.

On a shared dashboard, Save as Default needs the Edit dashboards permission. On your own personal dashboard you can always use it.

Card Filters

A card can have its own filters instead of following the dashboard. Open the card’s menu and choose Card filters…. For each filter, pick Follow dashboard or Use Custom.

A card with its own date range, comparison or segment shows it as a chip on the card. Select the chip to change it, or remove it to follow the dashboard again. For a report that takes advanced filters, such as a product or a discount code, choose Add filters… in the card’s menu to add them to that card alone.

Saved Views

A saved view is a named set of filters for a dashboard, such as “Monday Review”. It saves the filter bar’s date range, comparison and segment, but not the cards or the layout.

Pick a view from the view menu in the filter bar. Default is the dashboard’s own settings. Selecting a view adds it to the page link, so you can send the link to a teammate.

To save one, change the filters, open the view menu and choose Save Current View…. A view is personal unless you share it with the team, which needs the Edit dashboards permission.

The Overview Dashboard

Every store gets a shared Overview Dashboard with a standard set of cards: sales, orders, customers, profit and more. It’s where By the Numbers opens for stores that can’t use Pulse.

Until someone on your team changes it, By the Numbers can update the Overview when the standard set of cards changes. Once anyone edits it, it stays as your team set it.

Cards for Reports You Can’t Use

A card for a report your store can’t use shows a blurred sample instead of your numbers. A card that needs Google Analytics, Klaviyo or an ad platform shows a prompt to connect it. Once it’s connected, the card shows that the platform is syncing until its first sync finishes.

The Traffic & Conversions, Store Conversion Rate and Conversion Funnel cards don’t need Google Analytics when das Pixel is installed.

What It Means for You

Keep shared dashboards for the views the whole team works from, such as a weekly trading review. Use a personal dashboard to try out cards without changing what your team sees.

When a dashboard is close to what you want but not quite, duplicate it. The copy is personal, so you can change it freely.

To limit who can change the cards on your shared dashboards, give the Edit dashboards permission only to the people who should. Everyone else can still view them.
