How to Create a Dashboard
At the end of these steps you’ll have a new dashboard, shared with your team or kept to yourself, ready for its first cards.
Before You Start
Anyone on your team can create a personal dashboard. To create a shared one, or to add cards to one, you need the Edit dashboards permission.
Without the permission, the Shared with Shop option is turned off and the dashboard is personal. You can add cards to your own personal dashboards without it.
Steps
- Open Dashboards and choose New Dashboard.
- Enter a Name.
- Pick an icon and a color. They show beside the dashboard’s name in the navigation.
- Under Visibility, choose Shared with Shop so your whole team sees it, or Personal so only you do. Shared with Shop needs the Edit dashboards permission.
- Turn on Free Positioning if you want cards to stay exactly where you place them. Leave it off to have cards pack toward the top of the grid.
- Choose Save.

You can also start from any dashboard: choose its name at the top of the page, then New dashboard.
What Happens Next
The new dashboard opens, empty, and appears under Dashboards in the navigation.
Choose Add Card, then choose each report you want on it. Each one is added straight away. Choose Done when you’re finished.
You can also add cards from most report pages with Pin to Dashboard.
To change the name, icon or Free Positioning later, open the dashboard’s menu and choose Edit Dashboard. On a shared dashboard this needs the Edit dashboards permission. You don’t need it on your own personal dashboard.
Only the person who created a dashboard can switch it between shared and personal, with Make Personal or Share with Shop in the same menu. Sharing a personal dashboard needs the Edit dashboards permission.
To start from an existing dashboard instead, open it and choose Duplicate from its menu. The copy is a personal dashboard named after the original with “(copy)” at the end. It has the same cards, layout and default filters, but not the original’s saved views.
