Traffic Overview
Traffic Overview shows your storefront’s sessions, visitors, pageviews, engagement and sales over time, from what das Pixel recorded.

How It’s Calculated
Each row of the table is one period. A period is an hour for a date range of up to 3 days, a day for up to 93 days, and a month beyond that. A session counts in the period where it started.
The columns are:
- Sessions: visits to your store. A visit ends after 30 minutes with no activity, or after the longer timeout you set in das Pixel Settings.
- Visitors: the number of different browsers that started a session in the period.
- Pageviews: the number of pages viewed.
- Pages per Session: Pageviews divided by Sessions.
- Bounce Rate: the share of sessions with only 1 event recorded. Any second event, such as a product view or a search, ends the bounce.
- Avg Session Duration: the average time from a session’s first event to its last. A session with 1 event lasts 0 seconds and still counts in the average.
- Conversions: the number of sessions that ended in a purchase.
- Conversion Rate: Conversions divided by Sessions.
- Revenue: the value of those purchases.
Revenue is the total of the Shopify order each purchase links to: items minus discounts, plus shipping, plus tax that isn’t already in the prices, minus refunds. Where das Pixel couldn’t match an order, it uses the value it saw at checkout. A canceled or voided order counts as 0.
Summary Cards and Chart
The 8 cards above the table cover the whole date range: Sessions, Visitors, Pageviews, Pages per Session, Bounce Rate, Avg Session Duration, Conversion Rate and Revenue. They are built from the table’s rows:
- Visitors adds up each period’s visitors. A person who visits on 2 days counts twice, so it runs higher than the number of different browsers.
- Bounce Rate and Avg Session Duration are averages weighted by each period’s sessions.
The chart draws Sessions per period. Switch it between a line, an area and bars. With Compare on, it adds the earlier period, and each card shows its change.
What Counts
- Visitors who declined analytics cookies, or who opted out of the sale or sharing of their data while Require Sale-of-Data Consent is on, aren’t recorded. The report therefore shows fewer visitors than your store had.
- Bots are left out. Bot & Invalid Traffic counts them.
- Only events inside the date range count. A visit that starts before the range begins counts from its first event inside it.
- Periods follow your store’s time zone.
- Turn on Live to refresh the report every 30 seconds. Without it, a figure can be up to 10 minutes old.
A warning shows above the report when das Pixel saw less than 70% of your online-store orders in the last 30 days. Revenue then covers only the orders it saw. This report has no Segment, Sales Channel or Filters control.
What Good Looks Like
There’s no target. Watch the trend, and compare periods rather than reading one number alone. A rise in Sessions with a flat Conversion Rate means more visitors but the same share buying.
Bounce rate and session length are approximate. das Pixel records page and cart events, not scrolling or time spent reading.
What to Do About It
- Sessions jump after a campaign: check the Conversion Rate the same day. Sessions by Source & Channel shows which channel brought them.
- A high Bounce Rate: open Entry Pages to find the pages visitors leave first.
- A falling Conversion Rate: open On-Site Conversion Funnel to see where visitors drop off.
