das Pixel Settings

das Pixel’s settings control what it records on your storefront. The das Pixel page also lets you reconnect it, replace its token, or disconnect it.

How It Works

Settings

Select Settings on the das Pixel page. Every switch starts on, and the timeout starts at 30 minutes.

Saving changes needs the Manage integrations permission on your team. Without it, you can open Settings and read it, but the switches and Save are turned off.

  • Track Checkout: records checkout and purchase events. Without it, reports show no purchases and most orders can’t be linked to a visit. Nothing is sent to your ad platforms either, since a purchase is only sent when its checkout shows the customer allowed marketing.
  • Track Marketing: records the page address, referrer, ad click IDs and device fingerprint, for visitors who allow marketing. Without it, no sale can be tied to an ad.
  • Require Sale-of-Data Consent: stops recording a visitor who opts out of the sale or sharing of their data during a visit. Turning it off ignores that opt-out.
  • Session Timeout (minutes): how long a visitor can be idle before a new session starts, from 30–240 minutes.

What das Pixel doesn’t record while a setting is off can’t be recovered later.

Reconnect

If permissions go missing or the pixel stops working, the das Pixel page shows a warning with Reconnect. Reconnecting sets a new Capturing Since date.

Attribution figures are blank for any date range that starts before that date. The das Pixel page’s 30-day figure reads Not Measured until 30 days have passed.

Regenerate Ingest Token

Advanced, at the bottom of the das Pixel page, has Regenerate Ingest Token. The token is part of your storefront’s public tracking code, so it isn’t a secret.

Regenerate it only if you think someone has copied it. The old token stops working at once, and the new one is sent to your storefront. Visits in the short gap while Shopify updates your pixel aren’t recorded.

Disconnect

In Advanced, select Disconnect das Pixel and type DISCONNECT PIXEL to confirm.

  • das Pixel is removed from your storefront and stops recording.
  • Data already recorded, and the Web Analytics dashboard, are kept.
  • Ad attribution and server-side conversions stop.
  • Your conversion settings are cleared. After you reconnect, nothing is sent until you switch each platform on again.
  • Visits and sales while it’s disconnected are never recorded, even if you reconnect later.

What It Means for You

  • Leave every switch on unless you have a reason to turn one off. Each one you turn off removes something attribution or conversions depend on.
  • Reconnect only when the page asks you to. Each reconnect resets Capturing Since, and attribution figures restart from that date.
  • Disconnecting is for stopping das Pixel for good. To stop sending purchases to an ad platform, switch that platform off instead.
