How to Connect das Pixel
Connecting das Pixel adds it to every page of your online store. When you’re done, it’s recording visits, and a Web Analytics dashboard and its reports fill in as visitors arrive.
Before You Start
- If your store hasn’t granted them yet, Shopify asks you to approve two permissions:
write_pixelsandread_customer_events. - To tie sales to your ads, connect your ad platforms under Integrations. You can do this before or after connecting das Pixel.
Steps
- Open das Pixel from the navigation.
- Select Connect das Pixel.
- If Shopify asks for permissions, approve them. Shopify sends you back to the das Pixel page, which finishes connecting.
- In the setup checklist, find First Visit Recorded and select Test It Now. Your store opens in a new tab.
- Browse a page or two in that tab.
- Come back to the das Pixel page. The checklist watches for your visit for 2 minutes.

If no visit shows up in 2 minutes, the checklist lists the usual causes:
- Your cookie banner is blocking tracking. Accept analytics cookies in the tab that opened, then reload it.
- You opened a password-protected store or a theme preview. das Pixel only runs on your live store, at its public address.
- A browser extension blocks trackers. Pause it for your store, or try another browser.
You can also connect das Pixel during onboarding, on the Ads & das Pixel step.
What Happens Next
- A Web Analytics dashboard appears under Dashboards, for everyone on your team. The Web Analytics reports appear in Reports.
- The das Pixel page shows Finish Setting Up das Pixel, a checklist of 7 steps. After the first visit, the steps connect an ad platform and send it your purchases.
- The Connection card shows the date das Pixel was connected. It reads Waiting for the First Visit until a visitor reaches your store.
- The das Pixel page’s 30-day figure reads Not Measured for the first 30 days, because its window starts before das Pixel was recording.
