Collection Performance

Collection Performance shows which collection pages visitors browse, and how many of those visits go on to view a product, add to the cart and buy.

The Collection Performance report, with five summary cards and a table with one row per collection.

How It’s Calculated

Each row is one collection, with the most sessions first. The table lists up to 200 collections. A session counts once for each collection it viewed, however many times it came back to it.

The columns are:

  • Collection: the collection’s title. A renamed collection stays one row and shows the title seen most often.
  • Sessions: sessions that viewed the collection page.
  • Visitors: the number of different browsers.
  • Viewed a Product: the share of those sessions that viewed a product page.
  • Added to Cart: the share of those sessions that added an item to the cart.
  • Conversions: the number of those sessions that ended in a purchase.
  • Conversion Rate: Conversions divided by Sessions.
  • Revenue: the value of those purchases. It is the total of the Shopify order each purchase links to: items minus discounts, plus shipping, plus tax that isn’t already in the prices, minus refunds. Where das Pixel couldn’t match an order, it uses the value it saw at checkout.
  • Order Linked: the share of conversions that matched a Shopify order.

The 3 rates describe the whole session, not the collection. Viewed a Product and Added to Cart count a product viewed or added anywhere in the visit, even before the visitor reached the collection. A session that browsed 2 collections counts in both rows, with the same revenue.

Summary Cards

The cards above the table are Collections, Sessions, Added to Cart, Revenue and Order Match Rate.

  • Collections is the number of rows.
  • Sessions and Revenue add up the rows, so a session that browsed 2 collections counts twice.
  • Added to Cart averages the rows, weighted by sessions.
  • Order Match Rate is the match rate across all rows, weighted by conversions.

With Compare on, the first four cards show their change.

What Counts

  • Visitors who declined analytics cookies, or who opted out of the sale or sharing of their data while Require Sale-of-Data Consent is on, aren’t recorded. Known bots are left out.
  • Only events inside the date range count, in your store’s time zone.
  • Turn on Live to refresh the report every 30 seconds. Without it, a figure can be up to 10 minutes old.

A warning shows above the report when das Pixel saw less than 70% of your online-store orders in the last 30 days. This report has no Segment, Sales Channel or Filters control. Pinned to a dashboard, it can show a bar chart of the 10 collections with the most sessions.

What Good Looks Like

There’s no target. Compare collections with each other. A collection page works when many of its sessions go on to view a product.

A collection with many sessions and a low Viewed a Product share isn’t getting visitors into products.

What to Do About It

  • A low Viewed a Product share: check the collection’s sort order, filters and first products.
  • A good Viewed a Product share but a low Added to Cart: look at the prices and photos of the products it shows.
  • A collection with few sessions but a high Conversion Rate: link to it from your home page or menu.

Products Sold by Collection shows what each collection sold.
