How to Connect Meta Ads
Connecting Meta Ads brings the spend and results of your Facebook and Instagram campaigns into By the Numbers. It also lets you sync segments to Meta as audiences.

Before You Start
- You need a Facebook login that can reach your Meta ad accounts.
- You need the Manage integrations permission in By the Numbers. Without it, the Connect button doesn’t appear.
Steps
- Open Integrations: Integrations, under Settings in the navigation.
- On the Meta Ads card, click Connect.
- In the Meta window, sign in and approve access. If you use das Pixel, select your pixel when Meta asks which assets to share.
- Back in By the Numbers, Configure Meta Ads opens with every ad account checked. Uncheck any you don’t want. Select All and Select None help with a long list.
- Click Save.
What Happens Next
The first sync fetches up to a year of campaign and spend history for the accounts you chose. It can take a while, and the card shows the sync running until it’s done.
After that, Meta Ads syncs about every 3 days. Each sync reads at least the last 7 days again, so late changes to spend and conversions are picked up.
Your Meta spend then appears on:
- Advertising and the Campaign Performance report, by campaign.
- P&L, in Ad Spend.
- Customer LTV, in Blended CAC.
If You Didn’t Save the Accounts
Nothing syncs until you save which accounts to include. If you closed the dialog, the card shows Setup Required under Needs attention. Click Finish Setup to choose them.
Changing the Accounts
Click Configure on the Meta Ads card, change the checkboxes, and click Save.
- Unchecking an account deletes its stored campaign and spend history, except in the case below.
- Checking a new one fetches up to a year of history for it.
- Accounts you leave checked keep all their history.
Some campaign and spend data from before September 2026 doesn’t record which ad account it came from. By the Numbers keeps that data when you uncheck an account, since it may belong to an account you kept. If it came from the account you unchecked, that spend stays in your reports.
Syncing Segments to Meta
Meta takes a customer list only once you’ve accepted its Customer List Custom Audiences terms for that ad account. How to Sync a Segment walks through it.
If Meta reports the terms aren’t accepted, the card shows Terms required. Click Accept terms, accept them on Meta’s site, then click I’ve Accepted.
To disconnect Meta Ads, choose Remove from the menu at the top right of the card. This also removes every segment sync to Meta. If das Pixel sends your purchases to Meta, that stops too.
