How to Connect Google Ads

Connecting Google Ads brings the spend and results of your Google Ads campaigns into By the Numbers. It also lets you sync segments to Google Ads as customer lists.

The Integrations page before anything is connected; the Google Ads card has a Connect button.

Before You Start

  • You need a Google login that can reach your Google Ads account. A manager account login works too.
  • You need the Manage integrations permission in By the Numbers. Without it, the Connect button doesn’t appear.

Steps

  1. Open Integrations: Integrations, under Settings in the navigation.
  2. On the Google Ads card, click Connect.
  3. In the Google window, choose your Google account and approve access.
  4. Back in By the Numbers, Configure Google Ads opens with every ad account checked. Uncheck any you don’t want. Select All and Select None help with a long list.
  5. Click Save.

What Happens Next

The first sync fetches up to a year of campaign and spend history for the accounts you chose. It can take a while, and the card shows the sync running until it’s done.

After that, Google Ads syncs every 6 hours. Each sync reads at least the last 7 days again, so late changes to spend and conversions are picked up.

Your Google Ads spend then appears on:

If the Card Needs Attention

  • Setup Required: you closed the dialog before saving the accounts, so nothing syncs yet. Click Finish Setup to choose them.
  • No Ads Account: the Google login you chose can’t reach any Google Ads account. Click Reconnect and choose a login that can.

Changing the Accounts

Click Configure on the Google Ads card, change the checkboxes, and click Save.

The Configure Google Ads dialog, with a checkbox for each ad account to sync, Select All and Select None, and a warning that removing an account deletes its stored history.

  • Unchecking an account deletes its stored campaign and spend history, except in the case below.
  • Checking a new one fetches up to a year of history for it.
  • Accounts you leave checked keep all their history.

Some campaign and spend data from before September 2026 doesn’t record which ad account it came from. By the Numbers keeps that data when you uncheck an account, since it may belong to an account you kept. If it came from the account you unchecked, that spend stays in your reports.

To send a segment to Google Ads as a customer list, see How to Sync a Segment.

To disconnect Google Ads, choose Remove from the menu at the top right of the card. This also removes every segment sync to Google Ads. If das Pixel sends your purchases to Google Ads, that stops too.
